Historical California public postsecondary enrollment by segment for fall term summarized to the state level.

SUMMARY

In fall 2011 California total public postsecondary enrollment declined to 2,301,437, a loss of over 77,000 students.  California Community Colleges (CCC)  registered about  seven out of ten public postsecondary students, California State University  (CSU) enrolled one in five, and University of California (UC) enrolled one in ten. Graduate students accounted for 4.3 percent of the total.

California Community Colleges (CCC):  Fall 2011 enrollment declined to 1,653,379, the lowest fall enrollment since 2006.  

California State University (CSU):  Following two years of enrollment decline, 2011 total enrollment grew by 3.4 percent.  Graduate enrollment continues to decline to 59,395, the lowest fall enrollment level since 1984. 

University of California (UC) General Campus:  Fall 2011 enrollment grew by 1 percent, with undergraduates increasing 1.1 percent to 181,028 and graduates by 0.5 percent to 40,496.
