This section presents annual data on California building permits issued for housing units, and the valuation of building permits issued for both residential and nonresidential units. Annual figures by county are also included. The sources of construction statistics are Security Pacific National Bank (through 1986) and the Construction Industry Research Board. The data on housing characteristics are provided by the US Bureau of the Census and the California Department of Finance. The California Association of Realtors is the source for the existing home sales price data.
