This section presents data on manufacturing industries summarized from the 2002 Census of Manufactures and the Annual Survey of Manufactures conducted by the US Bureau of the Census. Detailed information for individual industries and local areas are also available in the published reports of the Bureau of the Census.
Data on manufacturing reporting units by county and by number of employees are compiled from reports published by the Employment Development Department.
Information shown on California’s defense-aerospace manufacturing sector is obtained from reports of the US Department of Defense (DOD), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the California Employment Development Department. Material from these and other sources has been summarized by the California Department of Finance.
