As of 03/21/2008 Budget Sequence numbers are three-digit codes used to identify and sequence appropriation adjustments on CALSTARS N10 and N11 automated Schedule 10 reports. Agencies establish these codes through the Budget Sequence Table (BS). Financial Operations (FO) within the Department of Finance also uses these codes in their Budget Process System. The Budget Sequence number is the key to matching CALSTARS records to FO's records on the automated Schedule 10 reports; therefore it is important to use the same numbering conventions. Volume 2, Chapter IV-BS provides information about the BS Table and has guidelines for establishing Budget Sequence numbers based on the type of appropriation adjustment. Some appropriation adjustments are issued through Executive Orders. Agencies receive journal entries referencing an Executive Order but often do not know the FO assigned Budget Sequence number. To assist agencies with this process, a list of Executive Orders, their assigned Budget Sequence numbers and purpose are displayed below. If an Executive Order is not on the list or you need further information, please contact the CALSTARS Hotline at 327-0100.
