Court Facilities Dispute Resolution Committee

The Court Facilities Dispute Resolution Committee is authorized (Chapter 1082, Statutes of 2002) to hear disputes between counties and the Judicial Council for the transfer of responsibility for court facilities. Disputes can be initiated for the following reasons: (1) a building being rejected due to deficiencies, (2) failure to reach agreement on transfer, (3) expenditures from local courthouse construction funds, (4) the amount of a court facility payment, and (5) facility receiving an unacceptable seismic safety rating or being rejected as deficient. The three member committee includes one person selected by each of the following entities: the Director of the Department of Finance, the Judicial Council, and the California State Association of Counties and meets as warranted.
