Service and Support
Through implementation and operation of CALSTARS, client agencies receive the benefit of a shared system concept and are relieved of the direct resources that would otherwise be necessary for the following service and support provided by DOF CALSTARS staff:
Daily transaction processing, production operation, and Standard/Special
reports production and distribution;
On-going programming maintenance and development of the system programs and
files;
Individualized analyst support for operational assistance and consultation;
Information System Analyst resource for consultation and assistance in the use
of Personal Computer products and other softwares for management information
reporting from the system;
Coordination with DOF, SCO, and other state and federal agencies for statewide
accounting and reporting procedures, requirements, and system changes;
Coordination with Otech for system and data security management, system
backups, disaster planning, operational recovery planning, processing cost
estimates, and preparation of IAA's;
Coordination with Otech for courier service and microfiche production;
Maintenance of system sign-on Security Tables;
CALSTARS equipment planning, site planning and preparation, procurement,
installation, and training;
CALSTARS communication line planning, ordering;
Telephone HOTLINE assistance,
problem solving, and Quality Implementation Checks;
On-going training sessions and training materials for all levels of clerical,
technical, and professional staff;
Year-end training sessions and seminars, YEC Check lists, extended processing
services and HOTLINE hours at year-end for year-end close and preparation of
financial statements;
Maintenance of all CALSTARS documents on the Internet, which includes the
CALSTARS Procedures Manual (CPM), Transmittal Letters (TLs), CALSTARS
Operations Memos (COMs), Training Schedule, forms, checklists, informational
charts, and various procedures;
NEWS screen for system status, system change notices, and recruitment
bulletins.
