Economic and Financial Research
The Economic Research Unit prepares economic forecasts and analyses
of various economic developments, advises state departments and local
government agencies, and provides economic information to the general
public. The Financial Research Unit provides revenue estimates for
the annual state budget process and analyzes tax issues potentially
significant to the state.
Reports and Periodicals
- California
County Profiles — A statistical "snapshot" of
selected economic, social, and demographic data for California and
its 58 counties.
- California
Economic Indicators — A bimonthly
summary of economic trends and data relating to the State of California.
- California Statistical Abstract — A compilation
of data on social, economic, and physical aspects of the state.
- Dynamic Revenue Analysis for California — Details
the California Dynamic Revenue Analysis Model (DRAM), used by Finance
to perform dynamic revenue analysis for proposed legislation having
a revenue impact of ten million dollars or more.
- Economic Report of the Governor — A historical overview and review of the State of California's economy, published in 2000.
- Tax Expenditure Report — A detailed listing of tax expenditures,
with a history of relevant legislative actions.
